Hemoglobin testing in Basaveshwaranagar Govt School
REPORT: HB TEST
An initiative was taken by Dr.Vimochana to start Hemoglobin Test for all the children of Basaveshwarnagar Government School having a total strength of 540 students .
She approached Padmashri Diagnostic Lab located in Vijayanagar to conduct HB Test during November 2010 for 540 children . The regular cost of each  lab test is around Rs.30/- which gives us the HB Level and Blood Group of each child. Padmashri Diagnostic Lab were kind enough to waive the charges and made the test totally free for all children.
Date and time: Nov 9th to 12th Nov from 1pm – 3.30pm

Total Strength of students – 540 of which 28 children of LKG were not checked due to tender age and fear of prick
HB Test done for 465 children ( Class I to Class X) out of 512 by Padmashri Diagnostic Lab

TREATMENTÂ POST FINDINGS Â OF HB
Dr.Vimochana, diagnosed and advised the dosage of Iron Tablets :
HB Level less than 8 % Daily
HB Level between 8 % and 9.90 % Mon / Thu [ weekly twice]
HB Level between 10 % and 11.90 % Mon [ weekly once]
HB Level 12 % and above Optional
Starting from 15th Nov 2010, Volunteers Manjula, Leelavathi, Sujatha , Dr Jayalakshmi ,
Dr. Vimochana and Vyjayanthi are co-ordinating and distributing Iron Tablets as per the prescribed chart to each student during lunch time so as to ensure that they do not miss to consume.
Special thanks to Manjula and Sujatha and Dr. Jayalakshmi for undertaking the responsibility of going to each class and distributing the tablets on every Monday and Thursday.
Special thanks to Padmashri Diagnostic Lab for doing the HB test to 465 children which otherwise would have costed expensive Rs.13,950/-
We are arranging to get the Absentee List of 47 children shortly.
