Mr. Venkatesh Murthy – National Coordinator, Youth for Seva

Venkatesh Murthy is the founder of ‘Youth for Seva’ and has been the coordinator since its inception in April 2007. After completing his B.Tech in computer science from KREC, Suratkal, Venkatesh worked with Tata Research Development & Design Center for 2 years before moving to the U.S. While in the U.S, he worked with Informix and EMC for 12 years. In January 2007, he relocated back to EMC, Bangalore as Manager of Software Development. Since May 2008, Venkatesh has been volunteering full time with Youth for Seva.

Mr. Keerthishankar K.N. – Coordinator

An incisive computer engineer with 21+ years of experience in the software industry in Networking Technologies, Software Services, Project/Program management, Delivery / Operations Management, Process Initiatives, Talent Management and Business Proposals. As a General Manager at Wipro he was responsible for managing the product development lifecycle from conceptualization, finalization of product specifications, technology selection, client handling, change request management and cross –functional coordination.

Being an ardent Carnatic music lover has practiced Mridangam in his school days and does not miss an opportunity to attend music concerts.

Keerthi currently co-ordinates the projects of DFS and is also responsible for interfacing with the corporates for the programs.

Mrs. Shashikala Mallikarjun – Coordinator

Shashikala is BA fromBangaloreUniversity. Before joining YFS as full time volunteer, she worked with MAYA (Movement for Alternatives and Youth awareness) as a co-ordinator for the ECCE (Early Child Care and Education) programme in low income areas ofBangalore.

In her past assignments she also worked in Prajayatna as Coordinator for the Quality Education initiative in public schools and engaged stakeholders like community members, officials from the Department of Education, Department of Woman and Child Development in Gulbarga and Ramanagara Districts. In Prajayatna she was also involved with a programme know as Introduction to Basic Technology (A learning initiative for High schools) in Sira Taluk, Tumkur District.

Vyjayanthi – Coordinator

Comes with a rich/vast experience of over 25 years in the banking industry and also has good exposure to materials management domain. She has donned multiple roles in the industry and opted for a VRS to serve the needy people in the society. To bring all people under the roof of Humanity has been her motto and that led her to YFS.

She started to volunteer by helping post stroke patients in the Physiotherapy section of St Martha’s Hospital, Bangalore and slowly spread her wings to various other activities in the health group (DFS).

Being an ardent singer has taken part in various programs of YFS and does not miss an opportunity to attend music concerts.

In DFS, she is co-ordinating the Doctor-at-school activities in the Govt schools in Vijayanagar area, help with counselling to needy children as well as actively involved in awareness program on Menstrual hygiene.

Dr. Vimochana – Advisor

Dr.Vimochana is a Paediatrician, who has completed D.C.H. She has worked with the Government of Karnataka for 23 years in various capacities, mainly related to women and children’s health. While with the government, she primarily worked at the BBMP’s hospitals and other government-run hospitals, such as Gosha Hospital. She worked as the Deputy Director for Maternal and Child Health from 2007-2008, after which she opted for voluntary retirement. From 2009-2010, Dr.Vimochana did extensive voluntary work with HIV patients in Sumanahalli community care centre.

Currently, she runs a Paediatric clinic in Basaveshwarnagar, Bangalore, called Vishwasa Child Health Centre.

About Youth For Seva

Youth for Seva (YFS) was formed in April 2007 to provide meaningful opportunities of service to those youth with the desire to volunteer, regardless of various time commitments.

The mission of YFS is to inspire youth to volunteer, connect them to grassroots projects, and provide ongoing support and training to the volunteers and the NGOs.
